Every website or blog needs to have a different look. The layout and visual style is set by a theme, which presents all your site visitors with easy navigation to help them explore your site better.
Upon installing WordPress, your site comes with a default theme. However, it doesn’t have to remain that way. If you want to choose a different theme that suits your website or blog (or one that you prefer), there’s a whole plethora of free WordPress themes available on the WordPress directory.
In this course, we will go over how to manage your WordPress themes.
Log in to your WordPress dashboard. Go under Appearance and click Themes.
On this page, you will see your website’s current theme and other themes which you have already installed.
If you want to download a WordPress theme off the Internet, simply click on the Add New button, and then Upload Theme.
If you have a theme in zip format, simply choose the file and click on the Install Now button.
You can look for a new theme simply by browsing through the WordPress marketplace. You can type in a specific feature that you’re looking for in a theme in the search bar.
Once you find the right theme, simply click on the Install button.
Once the theme has been installed, click on Activate.
Some of the newer themes allow you to customize the widgets, menus, header, background, etc. and let you see what they actually look like before you use them. So if you don’t like the theme, you can always switch it.
If you want to give it a shot, just click on the Customize button.
As you can see, tweaking a WordPress theme is really easy. Go ahead and try a new theme for your website today!
