WordPress recently made improvements in the audio area to include media players. With this, you can now easily share audio hosted on your own server via your WordPress website.
In addition to single audio files, you can also serve up a playlist. You can do this in a variety of ways on your WordPress website.
We’ll go over how to do that right now. Don’t worry, it pretty much works the same way you would build an image gallery.
Step 1:
Log in to your WordPress dashboard and go to Pages >> Add New.
Step 2:
Click the Add Media button as you normally would.
Once you get to the Upload Files page, select the files you want to upload and then drag-and-drop them here.
Step 3:
If you already uploaded your files, go to your Media Library where you will see options for creating an audio playlist in the menu of the Insert Media screen.
Go to Create Audio Playlist which will show you all of the audio files listed in the Media Library.
From here, you can rename the selected files and place them in any order you’d like. You can change the title and description of the clips (since WordPress pulls the title from the original file name). You can also add an image thumbnail on your clips.
Select all of the files that you want to display in your audio playlist and click Create a New Playlist.
Step 4:
Drag and drop to reorder your clips.
Here, you can choose to show or hide the tracklist, show the artist name, and show an image thumbnail.
Step 4:
Once you’re done, click Insert audio into playlist and the playlist will be added to your page.
If you’re not satisfied with it, you can always click on the pencil icon to re-edit, tweak, or do whatever you want with your audio playlist.
After editing your playlist, click on the Update button. You’re done!
