Protecting Your Computer

Security in WordPress is taken very seriously. But as with any other system, some security issues may arise, especially if some basic security precautions are not taken.

One of the things that you can do to protect your WordPress website is to protect your own computer. This many not seem related, but it really is.

Let’s say your computer gets a virus, malware, or any potential security threat, and you edit the files on your computer and upload them onto your website. Those specific files might be infected and you won’t know it until the worst has already happened.

WordPress has never had a security breach before. However security is not about perfectly secure systems. In fact, what tends to open the security holes are plugins, themes, or the computer itself. Besides this, you can also get viruses and malware from other websites. Most of these are targeted specifically towards infecting websites that implement JavaScript and other things into your site or other people’s sites, and then you download that malware. And once you edit your files, it gets infected.

Of course, you’ll want to do your very best to protect your computer and your WordPress websites. So if you can protect your computer, that’s a good way to start.

Nowadays, going without antivirus protection is not an option. Most of us, however, have an antivirus software installed in our computer. If you have any computers without one, you need to install protection – right now.

Lucky for you, there are now a lot of antivirus software for you to choose from. Better still, some of them won’t cost you a penny, and they’re actually really powerful.

Avast Free Antivirus

This particular antivirus program is free to download. Avast has been around for years so you know they can be trusted. And compared to other premium options that could cost you a lot of money, this free software packs a punch.

What’s good about this antivirus software is that, besides protecting your computer against viruses, it also gets rid of other security threats like spyware and malware that could affect your files and subsequently, your WordPress site (or any other site for that matter).

SpyBot

In terms of spyware, you should turn to this malware remover called SpyBot. This one has been around since spyware began to come about, so it works great at getting rid of nasty malware.

SpyBot is designed for basic use, but it also comes with complex menus and information for advanced users. It’s a great addition to your multi-program defense.

Webroot

Just like Avast and SpyBot, Webroot has been around for years. The company is one of the first to release a spyware-type software. Now, they also have an antivirus program. It’s one of tiniest antivirus software around, and it scans incredibly fast.

However, Webroot doesn’t come for free so if you have money to spend on a good anti-spyware and antivirus program, then Webroot is the one for you.

We hope these programs can help you protect your computer and your websites. Give them a shot and see how it goes.
