In this specific video, I’m going to teach you how to add your first Type. Types are the child pages of Guides, just like Features are the child pages of Reviews. Again, you can add this particular post type if you’re running a website with multiple products.
In this case, Types refer to the types of products on a specific niche. This helps you provide more organized content to your readers so it’s easy for them to find the information they need.
So, let’s start creating your first Type!
Step 1:
Log in to your WordPress admin panel. Go to Guides >> Types.
Step 2:
Add the name of your new Type, along with your slug. The slug field is what identifies the custom type inside WordPress. It’s a URL-friendly version of your Type name, and many only contain letters, digits, and underscores.
Step 3:
Add your description. Make a few edits whenever necessary.
Step 3:
Choose a parent category on this page. In this case, you’ll choose a specific Guide where you want your Type to be associated with.
Step 4:
Once you’re done, click on the Add New Type button.
Congratulations, you’ve just created your first Type! Simple and easy. Now, if your visitors are reading a guide regarding a product and they want to know if they have more options, they can check out your Type pages for more details and/or related products.
